Just a quick reminder that the deadline for pre-registration for
the FACUG state conference in Mulberry, FL Saturday, 13 October
is next Monday, 1 October. Also, FACUG has a small block of
rooms reserved until Friday.
You might want to pass this along to your members.
As I mentioned previous the Lakeland LUG will be providing a
roundtable on integrating Open Source, and the panelists will
be:
Anthony Awtrey - Melbourne LUG (Melbourne)
Ed Centanni - Suncoast LUG (Tampa)
Adam Glass - FLUX (Ft. Lauderdale)
Steve Litt - LEAP (Orlando)
Henry White - PCLUG (Lakeland)
We could all use this to
learn more about building and running the local group,
meeting face-to-face with some of the Windows leaders
who are sure to be looking for us immediately after XP
rolls out and they get first-hand look at it, the
new license and schedule of fees ;-) (not to mention the
open threats that started over a year ago of a 'visit' from
the storm-troopers at BSA, software audits, yada-yada-yada)
doing some heavy-duty networking amongst ourselves in
the Linux and Open Source communities
using this event to springboard into our own
training conference with an eye toward building on the
successes several LUGs have had at regional computer
shows and ultimately bringing back the Linux Showcase
from the Left Coast
