This way lays the morass of DLL hell ... bloated hardware ... and
monster binaries. It is not 'the Unix way.'

Red Carpet tries to do this -- but the problem with "packages with
all the libaries included" becomes -- Do you really wish to pull 30M
of glibc for a 12k package. Thus the shared library model, and more
recently, versioned library approach
