Try xf86config from the command line (i'm assuming that Mandrake has this X
tool, I know that Red Hat does) and go through the setup process. You will
need to know specific "stuff" about the hardware on your laptop; ie. mouse,
display settings... This will create a file /etc/X11/XF86Config that will be
read by the server when the X session begins.
