Sony VAIOs are nice, but I've seen and heard about many going to repair
because of one thing or another. The don't seem to be able to handle the
daily wear and tear too well.

As for other laptops, I do know that the Compaq Persarios of the past were
not friendly toward anything other than Windows 98, and the Armadas were
Windows NT workstation and now WIn2K Pro installed by default.
