Others probably know more but...
It's a full UNIX and very powerful, I know a lot of servers at USF
run it. I also hear it runs best on SUN hardware. I'm not sure but I
though about a year ago they opened the source? NOT made it
opensource/GPL compliant but I think you can download it and look at
the source code for free. I'm not sure if you can change it though.
Does anyone else know?

Sorry to sound like such an idiot, but....

I've heard several references recently to Solaris. Can you tell me
something about this--is it an OS, what's it's base (freeBSD, or
whatever) and is it downloadable?
