Hmm.. do you have mutt setup to use your local sendmail as a smart relay?
If so are you relaying to your ISP's SMTP server? Some mail servers don't
like to accept connections from people they can't do a reverse DNS lookup
on.. I'm assuming you have KMail setup to use your ISP's SMTP server
which is why KMail seems to always get mail through....
