One thing for which I don't think Rob has ever been properly credited
was making the amazingly expensive Aeron chair "the" symbol of geek
upscaleness and/or excess. As far as I know, Rob and his boyhood
buddy/Slashdot sidekick Jeff Bates, were the first people to display
Aerons at trade shows, and they were first advertised to the
computer-using marketplace on Slashdot.
How did a pair of no-money college kids make this hookup? Could it be
because Robert Malda *Senior* works at Aeron mfgr Herman Miller, of
Holland, MI?
