Ditto. With a 56k modem, I saw normal download speeds go from a Win95 / 98
normal of about 3 - 5 k/s to about 7 - 12 k/s under Linux. Although the
numbers are still pretty low ... you can go away for the weekend while a
kernel downloads ... that is still about 125 - 130% increase in speed.
With Linux, take the weekend off ... with WIndows, start the download on
Monday to have available for the following weekend :-)
