Ronan,

I, to, am looking for a good video editing software package. I have Adobe
Premiere, but at a cost of $300-$500.00, I'm not real excited about
actually purchasing it. Was wondering if you have used Premiere and how
it might compare with MainActor. If it comes down to spending $50 or
$500..., etc.

Keith-
If you have specific questions, I can try to answer them. but the best way to see what MainActor has to offer is to download it. The free (only as in beer) download is fully functional, except that it has the words "Main Actor" emblazoned across the middle of your video output. All of the transition effects are there, 2D and 3D text, pseudo-oscilliscope graphic streams, etc. It spits-out many formats: AVI, MPEG-I, FLI, and I think it does RealVideo and Quicktime, but I haven't used those. There is supposed to be an expansion pack coming out to do MPEG-II (necessary for SVCD), and the DV (ieee1394) support under Linux is still under development (I use dvgrab to suck video in from my Sony camcorder).
