[SLUG] My delima

Here's my dilemma and I'm hoping someone can help steer me in the right
direction. I need to have a VPN using IPSec to a company intranet.

1. Should I get a router that supports this such as the linksys or the
SMC?
        a. should I get a wireless router
        b. Or just a router and add the wireless later? if that is possible.

2. I would like to go wireless if not now in the near future. Are there
pcmcia cards that work in a laptop running Linux.

3. Should I take one of my old machines and convert it into a Linux
router. I have a Linux router now running Freesco on a 486 but can't
get it setup for IPSec. I was looking at Coyote but I would need to
replace the 486 with a 64meg P133 or greater to do IPSec. According to
Coyote's page.

4. Can a wireless connection be setup on the Linux router at a later
date. It looks like most of these use USB. Though some come with there
own cards. And I'm not sure if Linux would support this type of setup on
the router.

5. Can wireless be added to a commercial router like Linksys BEFSR41 or
the SMC / DLink equivalent

6. Cost is a consideration, as this is for personal use and not business
use. I would like to keep it under $200

I would like the Linux solution, but setting up IPSec pass through
doesn't appear to be to easy. I keep reading about kernel patches to get
it to work. Plus getting a machine with more power than the 486. So I'm
leaning towards the Linksys BEFSR41, but I did see somewhere on the net
that people could only do the setup from Internet Explore, that won't
work for me. I like SMC / DLink support for Linux so there router would
be a consideration.

I know, given enough time I could figure this all out by searching the
internet. I have done some preliminary searches already. That's what
made the above questions come up:) The problem being I need this
solution ASAP and Don't have much time for research, So I'm hoping to
tap into the vast knowledge of all the sluggers that might have
experience in this area.
