Re: [SLUG] Linux Evaluation/Comparison of Linux Server Distributions.

I'm look for white paper comparisons. Something that says something
like..."Suse does {this} better than Red Hat but is deficient to Caldera in
{this} area..etc...

Something that compares indepth specifics and identifies differences
between the various distributions. Any company needs to be armed with
this kind of information to base a decision on what's the right
distribution. Which works best as a web server, a file server, an
application server, a database server...and why? What's the service level
support for the distributions?

We've all heard various comments like, "Oracle works best with Caldera",
and "Suse is huge in Europe while Red Hat is very popular in the states".
My question is what's the real one to one comparison. Sure they're all the
same kernel, but what's set them apart?

www.linuxiso.org

You will find just about any distro you want.
As for them being servers that depends on how you set them up .
That is your choice not like Windows where you have to buy server or
desktop
versions.

If you have broad band and a burner the link i mentioned should be all you
need.
