[SLUG] VoIP Systems

I was tasked today to find out about moving our office to VoIP.
The real interest is in internet based hardware i.e. a desktop
phone rather than running phone software in a PC. I would like
to find something that can talk to a LINUX based PBX server.

Any ideas out there as to where to start. I do understand that
there is some LINUX VoIP software out there, and in fact I have
downloaded the source for speakfreely, but that is not quite what
we need.

To paraphrase my flight instructor;
"the only dumb question is the one you DID NOT ask resulting in my
going out and having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of
torn and twisted metal."
