This bounced because the poster was not properly s*bscr*bed. Normally I
would notify the poster and they would be forced to resubmit. However,
the content of this message is well worth forwarding regardless.

Well, it's time to make my presence known I suppose.

I've intended many times over the last several months to send a note to
the SLUG
and let you folks know I have been lurking for a while. I have acted as an
interested observer, but now I see something happening that is directly
related
to the people I work with, and more importantly Red Hat's educational
initiatives, which is part of my job.

David, I don't have all the facts, but I will find out what happened
from Chris,
Emily, and the person that called you back. I can assure you that something
doesn't sound right.

I didn't get involved with the original school project thread David started a
few months ago because I didn't want to taint your effort. I had assumed you
were looking at SuSE and didn't really want Red Hat's involvement, so I just
followed the story.

The irony here is that I'm the person you should be talking to at Red
Hat, since
our educational initiatives have nothing to do with OEM sales, or sales in
general. I am currently working on several of our initiatives, and with Emily
moving on, I will likely end up being the point person until she is replaced.
Had I spoken up sooner, perhaps this recent unpleasantness could have
been avoided.

If you're still interested in Red Hat's help, or just want to use Red
Hat Linux
for this project, please let me know. I can get you what you need, and
I promise
not to cite any copyright or trademark law! Red Hat is in fact quite
dedicated
to education in several arenas, and one of those areas is specifically the
purpose of this project: Linux and Open Source tools in K12.

Hopefully I can help you.
