I just downloaded and installed RedHat (beta "limbo" either
7.4 or 8.0 their call) and its a 5 cd download. Being a GUI
type maybe Redhat is trying to gain my business by offering
alot of choices in the windowmanager and desktop area
(bout time). In any case all went well I installed it on my
junk tested box and all was detected and installed well --
no hick-ups. Has the newest gnome and KDE and Windowmaker
so things are improving SuSE still has my business tho.
Just a little heads up that the "new" redhat is available
for download .

Another thing worth a mention is that I have located a
"scrounge" type. This guy will go out and find - pack - and
deliver/ship whatever you request. I was looking for
inexpensive (cheap) hardware for this other box and ran
across a comment from him on the web. I emailed him and
told him what I was looking for A good cheap refurb or
discontinued printer a scanner a cd-rw and a HDD and I
emphasized cheap and must be/have Linux compatability.
The guy emailed me back the very next day and got me an in
the box printer, warranty and all, for 40 bucks is getting
back to me on the other stuff. He says he is going to make
a Linux compat scrounge list and will let me know what
avail. If anyone wants to contact him ( the more the
merrier I guess) he does seem honest and will locate what
you need (even if you arent looking for really cheap --
like me) and do it kinda quick here is his email
