If you are using a rpm-based distro, then you would type: rpm -qi glibc
in a terminal console. If your distro just uses tarballs, then you may want
to look at where it is installed, probably /usr/bin, /usr/include and
/usr/lib as to the version info. If you have the README from the tar ball
left over, that may list the version number.
