[SLUG] Apache signal 11

I have just got Apachetoolbox and grab the sources to Apache 1.3.26,
MySQL 4.0.2-alpha, PHP 4.2.2, OpenSSL 0.96e and Perl 5.6.1, blah, blah,
blah..

I finnaly get everything to configure and make a workable Apache
install, I get the layout just right to install on my SuSE 8.0
workstation and it even starts. But anything that tries to get a web
page from it causes the server to die with this error.

---:tail /var/log/httpd/error_log---
[Thu Aug 1 09:38:44 2002] [notice] child pid 8819 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)
[Thu Aug 1 09:38:44 2002] [notice] child pid 8818 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)
[Thu Aug 1 15:39:31 2002] [notice] child pid 10812 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)
[Thu Aug 1 15:57:00 2002] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down
[Thu Aug 1 15:57:08 2002] [notice] Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) PHP/4.2.2
mod_gzip/1.3.19.1a mod_perl/1.27 mod_python/2.7.8 Python/2.2.1
configured -- resuming normal operations
---eof---

I just finished this process on our dev box running the same version of
suse. and I can't put my finger on what would cause this.

Anybody have a clue with the causes of a SIGNAL 11 could be? Shared
memory problems? bad IO stat or pipe?

HELP
