Python is a free download, and you don't have to have superuser
priveleges to install it. You can install it in your home directory.

You are assuming that the user has superuser rights as well as permission to freely install software on the system, which is often not the case. I had asked the user I've been working with why she doesn't just use Perl, but she had been told that it's against company policy to use anything but ksh. ;-)
