I set out to go just that last friday, I downloaded Gentoo 1.4 with the intention of installing it on my Notebook, after going back to the 1.2 CD to boot with PCMCIA support I had the base OS compiled by saturday night, and I had X, KDE, and several GTK applications by the time I left for work this morning. I'm hoping that my build will be complete by the time I get home today. :-)
