I have used a package called MPEG4IP, which comes with mp4live, which
can encode and stream MPEG4 from a V4L source. You can use it
point-to-point, or hook it up to Darwin Streaming Server and many (up to
4,000) viewers can connect to your stream using rtsp. MPEG4IP seems to
come from Cisco, but is OpenSource. Darwin Streaming Server comes from
Apple, but is OpenSource. There are other solutions, but this one is
pretty neat.
