[SLUG] Auto Responders

Folks:

Someone just sent a message to the list, and got an vacation-type
autoreply directly from someone else on the list. I understand the
theory behind these things, but for some reason mailservers don't
distinguish between regular email and list email when autoresponding.
Some of you may remember threads in the past that went on and on,
started by autoresponder replies hitting the list and annoying everyone,
every time someone posted to the list. Needless to say, I don't spend a
lot of time pondering what to do with email addresses like this.

In any case, fair warning: if you've got one of these gizmos attached to
your email address and you go on vacation, don't be surprised if you're
not subscribed when you get back. You can help by twisting your mail
admin's arm or your mail server's bits to make them figure out and
ignore/pass list mail, or simply unsubscribe before you leave.
