The big problem is finding time to camp in there and wait for someone
to appear. Now something like a jabber server with group conferences
that join other IM chatrooms or IRC on the other hand... THAT would be
interesting.

Not merely a jabber service where you can relay through the server to
get to other native IM systems. Something of a "meta conference" that
gateways to a more sane meta-moderated chat environment.

I've also been searching for a moderating system for existing public
chat rooms. The spam-bots on AIM kill any hope for anyone to use those
conferences. Any conference relay as mentioned above would need to have
a collaborative filtering framework or it would be deluged by these
cretins.

Has anyone found (and successfully used) such a beast?
