Well, I wasn't thinking of modifying Netscape code. I was thinking more
of the "windows style" that you choose which applications will default a
file type or you can set your default browser or mail client as part of
the environment.
If W does it, I'm sure that somehow KDE will be able to help you. Am I
wrong?

I don't think it will or should open a program of your choice. *
netscape will not open `netscape composer' unless you chose it in
the preferences (to auto open) or you click on it's ikon, which has
nothing to do with mail.
Remember netscape is delivered as a binary (a bloated one),
and without the source code you can't modify it to work as YOU
want it to.
Now when you are in your browser and you click on a "MAILTO:" link
netscape opens your mail client, I don't know how to change that.
That may be changeable.
