I was slashdotting just a few minutes ago and came across this:

After reading the article it sounds like, in a nutshell, some type of
"self-destructing plastic" has been created to allow DVDs, CDs, and
other D's to become unusable 48-hours after being removed from the
packaging. Somehow it sounds like piracy just got a whole lot less messy
and less expensive... What's the entertainment industry to do...except
for bleed uncontrollable from the neck?
