Just an update cause things are slow on the list(saturday
and all---rain)
I have this old winbook laptop PIII 650 with 256 megs ram
and 11.4 gig HDD. Well I originally had it set with dual
boot a win98/SuSE 8.2 but just for giggles and something to
do cause I couldnt go out and mow the lawn or anything fun
like that, I decided to see if there was an easier install,
the SuSE was slick and easy.
I installed Libranet 2.8 and that was maybe easier than the
SuSE install and everything was detected and set up
properly without any configuring on my part, sound , X ,
internet, the whole load, even identifed and set up the off
the wall Xircom card that I am using. This took overall in
the vacinity of 35 minutes start to finish and everything
worked.
I even modified the apt-get list and have done a few
synaptic upgrades so its probably not considered a pure
Libranet system but it is Debian and it did install without
a burp and it was easy.
The installer even walks you through the keys necessary to
move around and select during install so this is something
that a newbie CAN install.
Okay thats it just a little something to take up the slack
on a relitavely empty/slow list day.
A J
