Take a look at Dirvish:

    http://www.pegasys.ws/dirvish/

It's a *very well written* perl application that frontends rsync, making
"vaults" of periodic hardlinked filesystem snapshots (single instance
store). Neat stuff. We use it now at NKS in place of pure rsync snapshots.
