Any server that is connected to the internet (Apache included) can/does have
potential security issues. "Hardening", is the process of removing default
installation settings that can leave the server vulnerable or patching
security flaws that where later discovered. The only operating system I do
not recommend using is MS Windows - mainly because of the limited
capabilities of securing the Apache (imagine that).
