Do the math. That implies your image is 15.4"x11.5". Is this correct?

I don't think that has much to do with it. It's probably due to
antialiasing, font choice, etc.

XF86Config(5x) XF86Config(5x)
...
       DisplaySize width height
This optional entry gives the width and height, in
millimetres, of the picture area of the monitor. If
given this is used to calculate the horizontal and
vertical pitch (DPI) of the screen.

75x75 is a bogus value. My screen is about 120dpi, for comparison. In
/etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) , in the "Monitor" section, add or change
"DisplaySize <mm left and right across your monitor's image> <mm up and
down a. y. m. i.>" (25.4 mm per inch). Some things may be rendered too
small after you change, due to some programs relying on a fixed number of
pixels for images|fonts|whatever, not a fixed number of mm.
