i just submitted this update to yesterday's "Say Goodbye To Your CD-Rs In
Two Years?" article on Slashdot (Robin - maybe you could help with that):
after seeing this i checked all of my older (4-5 years) CD-R's and CD-RW's
and most of them had multiple errors.
i was devastated to learn that i had lost my precious code and data until i
decided to let the DVD drive check them and it worked - no errors and all
files recovered!
i didn't see this solution mentioned in any of the comments and since this
is such a profound revelation (at least for me) i thought i would pass it
along.
please get the word out before people start trashing their CD-R's.
thanks,
thor
