Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 95 on December 31, 2001. On July 1,
2002, Windows 98 and Windows NT Workstation (NTW) 4.0 entered the extended
phase of their life cycles, meaning that it is now difficult to purchase
them pre-loaded on new PCs, all assisted support is fee-based, and Microsoft
will only create new bug fixes if someone pays it to do so. Microsoft will
stop providing assisted support on Windows 98 and NTW 4.0 entirely on June
30, 2003.
