[SLUG] NoHUP question

Ok not sure if this is a nohup question or not. I
have a friend that runs a Counterstrike game server
and needs to ssh in to it to do things from the
console and here is the problem. The game runs from
whatever process id its parent is from so we figured
nohup would keep it from stopping when he does a ssh
in to start it. Problem is that the game server can
run interactively so that you can issue commands to
it but since its running as a different process
there is no way to pull it back into the current
session. We've tried running it in the background
with the trailing & but cannot pull it back into the
foreground when he logs on later because its still
linked to the old PPID. Does anyone have a solution
that can be used that will allow him to start the
game server and then administer changes. We can do
it using vnc pulling a session on the box but he
apparently has problems sometimes with the vnc so it
would be just better if it could be done from CLI
and preferably from the ssh session. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
