Don't both Gnome's GDM and KDE's KDM allow you to automatically log in to a
user bypassing the login prompt? As root, go into the GDM or KDM
configuration screen (it should be in your Gnome or KDE menu under GDM Config
or KDE login manager under Control Panel). It's a piece of cake, just
specify which user gets to log in automatically (a non-root user of course).
You might also want to make a "chroot jail" for this user so they couldn't
easily touch anything? It's a space the user can't get out of. BTW, I have
a generally warm feeling about embedded linux, but I can't substantiate my
reasons for this.
