[SLUG] phlak and fbdev

This may (or may not) help someone who picked up
a copy of phlak at the show.

Booting in my system with an ATI Rage XL and
a Relisys RE551, it would load and then the monitor
would switch off. Hitting F2 for boot options, I can boot
with "phlak module=fbdev" and then get good 1024x768.

The monitor has that annoying auto-off feature however
has the sharpest image of all my old monitors. So I
keep using it.

This on a system which, same hardware, runs: Win XPpro,
Solaris 9 IA, and FreeBSD 4.9 (and Knoppix 3.3) with no difficulty
(three separate harddisks in one system, swap cables.). A
bunch of other boot options gave the same result, at the end of
the dmesg text, the monitor just switches into standby mode.,
just before the login prompt. I can get into init 2 text mode okay, also.

Is this an ACPI issue? It is on, but I apparently need to turn it off
when running Sol9 or FreeBSD. Or a video driver issue for my
ATI card?
