Processes get loaded into and executed from memory. rm doesn't need
the binary on disk to continue happily unlinking anything else it
finds :).

p.s. It's only a joke until the first time you accidentally do it :). From what I've heard, the biggest culprit is working on a shell-script and having something like rm -rf $EMPTYVAR1/ ... don't write scripts where you might get burned like that :)
