Hi All

Thanks for the consideration.

It is not normal to answer one's own question but the answer is something that
may prove useful to others who are trying to do test conversion so old MS doc
files may be used in Linux.

One can print text directly to a file in MS Windows by choosing printer
manufacture = generic and printer = generic / text

Set up data to be printed and print by menu

Set printer to generic paper continuous in options

print

A menu should come up where you choose what file you want to print to.
Set file to <file name>.txt or rename after printing to .txt

Open file in text editor and you should have text.

Sorry about the posting but they did help formulate the ideas.

Thank
Frank
