Shouldn't you 'depmod -a' to reload the modules dependencies? also my
alsa drivers for my soundblaster live! are in:
/lib/modules/2.6.5-mm1/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.ko
but that's for a 2.6.5 kernel, it should be similar for a 2.4 except for
the extension, which is .o
