SUSE is excellent, but if you seriously want to satisfy a particular
client that's going to run a number of Linux workstations (and
presumably servers), you might want to talk to Warren Woodford, the
Mepis developer, about a custom distro with exactly the apps you need,
tailored for the hardware you've going to use.

Before he got into Linux, Warren was a business process software
developer (very heavy creds going back 25 years) and I know he's going
to move toward building and maintaining custom enterprise and OEM
desktops after one or two more "general" Mepis releases anyway. He's
made Mepis very modular with this goal in mind.

Another company to check out that does cutom distros (for a bunch more
than Warren would charge) is Progeny, which is run by Debian founder Ian
Murdock.

If you have a serious client who's willing to spend a little money (not
necessarily a lot), "'the" way to go is a custom distro that can be *for
sure* one-click updated without breaking anything, and one made
carefully so that you *know* all the hardware and software in the
network will work together without problems.
