I am using Fedora Core 2 (upgrade install from FC1) with OO 1.1.1 and,
starting with text from emails in Kmail I can:

cut & paste (ctrl+x / ctrl+v)
copy & paste (ctrl+c / ctrl+v)
highlight & middle click
