I do wireless coverage studies,(like the "can you hear me now" guy) and
I need a fast laptop to process the data points as we capture them and
put them on a map, I do not want to have to turn around in order to get
to what appears to be a poor coverage area after I have driven through
it and 3-4 more blocks before it gets on the screen. Any time you are
processing data real time in a moving vehicle and the data deals with
the area you are moving through you are probably going to need some
horsepower to do it. Beyond that I am sure there are others but to do
most stuff you are probably right. Even when I post process and map
data, it is better just to let it do it's thing and go off and do
something else while it does it.
