I think the technical term for what you are looking for is a bridge.
Actually, I guess you would need 2 bridges, one on each end of the coax.
I've never actually used a bridge, but I would think you get one from
Office Depot or CompUSA.
Have you considered using the existing coax cable as a fish line to pull
in some new twisted pair? If your really lucky,you might not need a trip
to the attic.
