Eben, I think you missed something at the beginning of this thread. The
proposal is to use existing coax wiring to pull in new cat5 wiring -- and also
a pull cord at the same time so it will be there ready for the next cabling
upgrade.

I've also seen a suggestion for using pull cords in new construction. Wires
have to be inspected, but pull cords don't ;)

The hint about cutting off insulation and making a loop in the core wire is a
good one!
