When I studied Digital Techniques in the Air Force in the 60's,
I had to be able to sight read IBM punch cards, The 5 dot teletype code
on punched paper tapes
and studied vacuum tube flip flops.
My computer was programmed in octal coded machine language using an IBM
360 to
read the cards into our system.
I did the Fortran IV on punched cards after I got out of the Air Force.
