Any of the May 2004 versions of Knoppix 3.4 refuse to run
on either type of Dell Optiplex here (GX1 tower, GX 100
pizzabox style). It hangs up early in booting when trying to
initialize the CDROM device as /dev/scd0 and requires a
hard power reset even just to get the CD disk back out of
the drive..

Knoppix 3.3 works with no problem on these machines, as do
others such as Adios, FreesBIE, Kanotix, STD, FIRE, Phlak,
SUSE live-eval 9.1

So, is DELL considered non-standard hardware? :-)
