Smells like half duplex. Hit Ctrl+Alt+F1, Login as root and type:

dmesg |grep eth0

then post the results to the list.

You might also set up your resolv.conf to use a "known good" DNS server
if you are only having speed issues while web browsing. You can do this
via Yast2 since I see you use SuSE.
