Mario,
You may want to look at MPD with a front end like phpMP. See
http://www.musicpd.org/?page=files . I think it might be what you're
looking for. Although I haven't tried it out myself yet, I am planning
on setting up a machine just for running MPD/phpMP. The box will reside
under my entertainment center and will be used for playing all my
digital music on my home stereo. The plan is to be able to access the
playlist from any computer on the LAN to make changes or start/stop the
music. I can't wait to get some of my current projects out of the way so
I can start playing around with it!
