Protecting? I don't believe Robert was defending them, just pointing out
that it does little good to kick them. "MS deals the final blow" is a bit
silly... I'm sure they'll deal many, many more blows...<grin>

>>You cannot expect to stand up for MS and not get shot at on a Linux List

It IS his right to suggest we not take pot shots at MS, which has NOTHING to
do with Linux.

>>No corporation with experienced admins allow autoupdate.

I thought that was one of the big deals about Gentoo and Debian.

While it can be entertaining to take a few pot shots at MS, I think this
thread has gone way overboard with emotion.

Meanwhile, I'm sure glad I stuck with W2K...

You appear to really like MS the way you always seem to try to protect them.

Did they not tell you - They ARE the evil overlords! Well, maybe not evil.
But clearly don't have either your's or mine best interests at heart. It's
all about getting more money in the bank at whatever the cost.

They don't just fix bugs. They introduce new ones every time.
Then they use mix up bug fixes with feature changes that leads to even
bigger problems.

No Robert, I think it's you who should stop protecting MS. I mean really,
this is a Linux list with Linux users. Most of who are really fed up with
the crap this multi multi billion dollar company happily throw upon us.

What do you expect to hear here? How great windoze is? You cannot expect to
stand up for MS and not get shot at on a Linux list...

Bah, that's nonsense! Why? Because you cannot "pass the buck" in security!
The biggest problem is the unrepairable win32 API (programmer development
tools). And the neverending ignorance of security issues that has led us
into the quagmire.

And breaks everything while at it. No corporation with experienced admins
allow autoupdate. You probably have never been in the position where you are
responsible for the server farm to stay up, with the need to test changes
done on a seperate LAN, so that you don't crash production servers.
Something EVERY SINGLE SP EVER COMING OUT OF MS HAS DONE TO DATE.

So does leaving the computer off.

Come on Robert, do you really believe all that MS says? Big, money making,
and successful has proven not to be the same as trustworthy.
