Tampa's meetings are quite large compared to others I've seen. A coffee shop
doesn't sound that big. Also, I'm with Ian about the WiFi deal. In the
beginning, "before there was fire," :) we met at some high school chemistry
lab. It didn't have a LAN let alone a WLAN. We collaborated and dealt with
what we could with CDs, floppy disks, and lots of typing.
In some cases, people surfing the net during meetings and retracting from the
small community takes away from the social and collaborative qualities of a
user group. Don't get me wrong, I like WiFi for the LUG, but it's certainly
not necessary nor should it be the focus. Bottom line, we need a free large
area to meet--preferrably with chairs.
I'm not sure where the member density of Tampa SLUG lies, but I noticed there
was more attendance when we were at PWC. Then again, HCC wasn't very far
away either. Hmmm.
