I went through the same problem a year ago. Each of my three younger
siblings(Ages 7, 10, 11) has there own comuter. They all had Windows on
them, and each would regularly become infected with spyware, and require
maintenance. So, I began searching for the best, low maintenance, high
usability Flavor of Penguin for them. While chatting on #debianjr, Justin
Zeigler, the President of the Open Source Education Foundation, directed me
to Knoppix 4 Kids. (available here http://www.osef.org/) Knoppix 4 Kids
was made possible by the OSEF in conjuction with the Tux4Kids Project.
