Seriously now, Acess is just a TCO nightmare.
 
First you have the Jet, client-based engine for atomicity.

Next, even if you leverage a ODBC connection to a SQL service for server-based atomicity, that still only gives you the "A" of "ACID". Yes, "A" is the most important first step, but its still the limit of "Access" (talk about a pun that fits!).

Lastly, you still have client-side DLL hell issues regardless.
Especially if a vertical app uses an older version of Office.
