True, and 911 is handled differently, but my CallVantage service has only
had two power failures since I got it before the hurricanes.

CallVantage also now features a "safe forward number" that you can set...if
for some reason your TA (their term for VoIP gateway) can't be reached due
to internet or power outage, it will automatically forward to another number
(It can be a cell phone or other land line). I have a company-provided land
line for work, so it's an easy backup.
