One of the advantages Quicken has is that it's not double-entry. Gnucash
is. No one at home managing their checking account wants to have to
learn the rules of double-entry. Moreover, despite Gnucash's great
utility to a lot of people, it has so many dependencies that I would
never recommend building it from scratch; if you can't get it with your
distro, I wouldn't recommend trying to install it.
